Many times we become stressed, frustrated, and unhappy that what we thought was going to happen or what we were going to get done is foiled. We complain, groan, and get grumpy! But as we look at Scripture, we find that we can rely on the Lord, knowing that He has a plan and a purpose for us.

Are You Ready?

Devotion on Trust, Psalm 121:1–2, 7–8. 1 page.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore (Psalm 121:1–2, 7–8).

Life is hard. So many things want to knock us down and take our breath away. There is pain, worry, anxiety, death, brokenness, and fear that makes life hard. There are times when things feel so low, stressed, or overwhelmed that there seems to be no way out. But there is.

… the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life (Galatians 6:8b).

In one of the many parables Jesus shared with His disciples, He used the example of a farmer to teach a lesson. We know that the task of the farmer is to go out and plant his seeds. Once in the ground, the seeds begin to grow and produce a crop for him to harvest. The Lord provides the harvest.

Like the farmer in the parable, our task is to be about sowing, namely, sowing the seed of God’s Word. When we take time to share His Word with others, many more have the opportunity to come to faith in Him as their Savior and have the assurance of reaping eternal life in heaven.

Reaping a Bountiful Harvest

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:3–4 NIV). 

Uncertainty is a state that many young women find themselves in. Whether it is a result of schools, relationships, jobs, or concerns for the future, we all find ourselves uncertain of what the future holds. When this uncertainty strikes, as children of God, we can choose to either let it destroy us slowly or we can choose to turn to the Lord Who holds the future in His hands.

Uncertainty for Your Future

If then you have been raised with Christ, see the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is in your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory (Colossians 3:1–4).

The Lord’s plans are always better than our plans. He knows best because He knows us best!

But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God (1 Corinthians 1:26–29).
