Pray. Pray. Pray. These words are repeated over and over on every page of the book Light in the Dark Belt, the autobiography of Dr. Rosa Young. Known as “the mother of Black Lutheranism,” Rosa was born in 1890 into an extremely poor Black family of ten children in rural Rosebud, Alabama.
For the last 179 years of USA history, LCMS women have been “influencers” in our American culture, using their many gifts and talents to share Jesus’ love in their homes, families, churches, schools, and work places. HIS Story through History: Faithful Women is a set of stories about LCMS women who applied biblical principles in their vocations; some names you may recognize, while others are known only to a few.
