Wednesday Dec 20, 2023
Wednesday Dec 20, 2023
Devotion on Advent, Luke 1. 1 page.
Many of us get stressed out during the weeks leading up to Christmas-so much to do, so little time. It doesn't have to be that way. Mary, the mother of Jesus, can be an example for our Christmas preparations.
How did Mary prepare when she learned she would have a role in the first Christmas? First Mary humbly submitted to God's plan. Then, she rejoiced as she looked forward to the first Christmas.

Ep. 222: Love Explained — Devotion
Wednesday Dec 13, 2023
Wednesday Dec 13, 2023
Devotion on Advent, Christmas, Relationships with others, Service, 1 John 4:9–11. 2 pages.
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another (1 John 4:9–11 NIV).
As we eagerly await the birth of the Christ Child, our days are filled with preparation. We decorate our Christmas trees and our homes; shop for gifts; send Christmas cards; bake the family-favorite cookies; attend Advent services, choir rehearsals, and program practices; entertain guests; plus a dozen other things!
Growing tired and weary from the stress and busyness of the season may cause us to be less than loving. At those times our attention is often focused on getting everything done just perfectly rather than on the Christ Child, whose birth is the real reason for celebration.

Ep. 219: Jesus, the Servant — Devotion

Devotion on Servant, Service, Christian Living, Mark 10:45. 1 page.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).
When we ask young ones what they want to be when they grow up, they might say a policeman, a fireman, an actress, or a bookkeeper. It’s doubtful that many would say they want to be a servant. A servant! That is just what our Lord Jesus chose to be.

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).
We live in a world with many challenges to face each and every day. Sometimes these challenges can be overwhelming, resulting in distress that creates a sense of fear. … That, in turn, often results in worry or anxiety — one of Satan’s favorite tools.

Ep. 217: Cast Your Net — Again — Devotion
Wednesday Nov 08, 2023
Wednesday Nov 08, 2023
Devotion on Joy in the Journey, Discipleship, Witnessing, Luke 5:5, 10. 1 page.
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” … Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men” (Luke 5:5, 10).
The call to discipleship did not end with the Twelve. Each one of us blessed by faith through the gift of the Spirit is also both called and enabled by God to follow our leader, Jesus. Will you trust Him to make you one of His “fishermen”?
